Map of Metal

I heard about this on the radio this morning: Map of Metal is an interactive web page that lets you chart the progress and subgenres of heavy metal music. Sometimes the sub-sub-sub-sub-sub-genres.

It’s laid out in a pirate treasure-map sort of way that shows how each genre spawns its subgenres. You can also play clips and songs that exemplify each charted subgenre. It’s goofy fun, but how else am I going to find out what “Funeral Doom” sounds like?
