I saw Anvil! The Story of Anvil the other night. Brilliant.
It’s a touching story. You really feel for these guys, who just want to rock, but who were unlucky enough not to make it as big as their peers (or just unwilling to compromise for success).
I was blown away at how ridiculously similar their story was to mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap, which probably says a lot about how the best humour is close to reality, and about how funny life is.
The film did what a doco should do. We go on a journey of understanding and minor redemption with the band. You don’t have to be a metalhead to enjoy it.
